Uxío Novoneyra
He was born in Folgoso do Courel, province of Lugo, in 1930; died in Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña, in 1999. Galician writer and poet who devoted much of his work to recreate the landscapes of his birthplace being so one of the great Galician authors in landscape issues.
He began his work writing poems in Castilian but starts using Galician when he meets contemporaries such as Manuel María, Ramon Piñeiro and Otero Pedrayo, from which he receives great influence. Thus, when in 1952, while performing his military service in Santiago de Compostela, started composing the first glimpses of what would become his most famous poems, Os Eidos. In 1955 the first edition was published.
