PlayLab is a project defined as: “A space for experimentation, creation, learning and diffusion of videogame culture, (…) In order to do so, work teams were created focused on exploring collectively, interdisciplinary and collaboratively the use of software and hardware tools, as well as creative methodologies relative to the world of videogames and its applications in other context (cultural, musical, artistic, educational, etc.). (…) PlayLab’s activities are proposed as an open and participative research process where this phenomenon of videogames can be discussed, more extended and influential everyday in our contemporary society, exploring its critical potential, its ability to create spaces of socialization beyond the purely commercial and standardized and its possibilities for learning” (Escribano, 2010)
